From Rich:
I was raised in San Leandro. Served in the Army in Viet Nam. I spent almost my whole career at San Leandro’s Estudillo Station. While with the department I started the Bresnan Distributor. I also started the Kid’s Christmas Party. I used to print the FD T-shirts. I also restored and maintained the 1927 REO Fire Truck and Played in the FD Band “The Snake Pit Band”.
At present I am still playing music in my band “Gospel Creek”. I am building a hot rod milk truck. I entered the department with my wife Sue, who died in 1972. Then my wife Adele and I spent the next 26 years together until she died in 1999 just before retirement. Now my wife Debra and I are enjoying my retirement. Debra is a teacher and she is still working, and playing in my band. Life is good.
